Indeed. It was a bonifide spectacle at the Style X fashion show. SXSW is one of the most important events in the country around innovations in music, film, interactive technology and now, fashion (or more particularly, style). Last Friday’s and Saturday’s fashion show was an exciting event, where the musicians modeled designers’ line (including deeFind shoes), while lights flashed from cameras everywhere. Afterwards, deeFind couldn’t take orders fast enough. A hugely successful event for us, with tons of musicians, onlookers, shoppers, admirers, fashion bloggers… you name it they were there and deeFind had was the main course of what seemed to be a fashionista feeding frenzy! We cannot thank all of our supporters and new fans from all over the world enough. This was an event that seemed to align seamlessly with our brand and objectives. Some really incredible designers were in the house as well, such as fellow San Francisco brands Bryna, San Franpsycho, Sea Pony and The Convertible Dress (TCD). Next year will be even more astounding. <3

We couldn’t be more excited or proud. We are working hard pulling all-nighters, crafting drafts of creative briefs only to tear them up and rewrite them until they’re perfect, hours and hours of staff meetings, photo shoots, etc…. All that work is paying off and all the right people are beginning to notice. After sending in our images for SXSW’s Style X look book, we were stunned to discover that one of the images from our Fall/Winter line, “The Maelle” was selected to represent the front page of the website. So exciting and such a thrill to be a part of this. If you are going to be at SXSW this year, please come by and see us (*see below)! We would love to get acquainted with you. Until then, please spread the good news about SXSW, Style X, and the deeFind brand!
*This year's Style X will be held in Exhibit Hall 4 in the Austin Convention Center (enter at the corner of 4th & Trinity Streets).

We truly want to thank all our fans and supporters who purchased a pair of deeFind shoes from our Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. Because of you, we were able to donate a portion of each pair of shoes sold to a special charity responsible for their challenging and admirable work. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping make a difference in our community and allowing us to make a contribution to Literacy for Environmental Justice.
The Literacy Of Envrionmental Justice was founded in 1998 out of concern for Bayview Hunters Point and surrounding communities of San Francisco. ”The mission of Literacy for Environmental Justice is to foster an understanding of the principles of environmental justice and urban sustainability in our young people in order to promote the long-term health of our communities.”

This impressive non-profit offers paid internships in areas of environmental health, food security, and natural ecology for Bayview Hunters Point youth. In addition, hands on environmental education programs to schools, colleges, and youth programs are offered to our up and coming generation at no charge.

Bayview Hunters Point has historically be a dumping ground for some of San Francisco’s most toxic industries. Residents are plagued by chroinic illness at four times the state average and hospitalized for many types of illnesses more often than residents in any other San Francisco neighborhood. These Environmental health hazzards are also heightened by the lack of access to fresh food and grocery stores, ensuring proper health.

At this time, the immediate environmental justice struggles within the area of Bayview Hunters Point include:
• Cleaning up the Hunters Point Power Plant site;
• Remediation and redevelopment at the Hunters Point Shipyard; and
• Increasing healthy food access throughout the community.
